Tulip Day 2026 is returning to Union Square in San Francisco on Saturday, March 21, transforming the plaza into a vibrant field of more than 80,000 colorful Dutch tulips. For one day each year, visitors are invited to walk through the temporary tulip garden and pick their own bouquet of up to eight free tulips, creating one of the city’s most unique and photogenic spring traditions.
The event also marks the kickoff of Union Square in Bloom, a seasonal celebration where local businesses welcome spring with floral displays, special menus, and events throughout the neighborhood. Entry is free and open to the public, though large crowds are expected. The queue opens at 9:00 AM, with the tulip field opening to visitors at 1:00 PM, so arriving early, and using public transportation is recommended.
